1)Please explain how a paralegal may engage in advocacy

• A paralegal may engage in advocacy by being responsible for contacting organizations that require the use of informal advocacy techniques such as responding to resistance. For example, a paralegal may be required to communicate with caseworker or social worker to inform them about an action an agency has taken or proposes to take is illegal or ill advised

2)Please explain how you may have engaged in advocacy.

• There are many forms of informal advocacy some techniques I have used is the technique of "climb the chain of command". Everyone has someone they must answer to and more times than not people do not want you talking to their bosses...even when they are right. You often catch more flies with honey than with vinegar so sometimes just being a buddy is the biggest form of advocacy we can use.People often are more receptive when they feel like they are not being attacked by an enemy but being helped by a friend.

3)Please explain how engaging in advocacy may benefit your community.

• Advocacy as defined by Statsky (page 618) advocacy is where individual attempts to influence the goals or behavior of others. Advocacy can benefit our community in many ways; one of which is being the voice in a voiceless society. Some ways, we can be the voice for the voiceless is by helping the hungry or homeless. By helping to get these people in on there feet we are employing more people, which helps our community. Not only that there are healthcare advocate for our community but also these are just a few of my preferences.
