Write up meeting with both Belinda and Cliff as a case note.

Scenario 1 Belinda has recently called in to your community mental health service and has asked for some support as she is feeling isolated and alone since her partner left her three months ago. Belinda is 35 years old and has a young son. Belinda has a recent diagnosis of depression (although she believes she has lived with it for a lot longer). Belinda has medication but is choosing not to take it as she did not like the feeling when she did. Belinda however is concerned as she has begun drinking more alcohol than usual (an old coping mechanism) but does not want to continue to do so. You ask Belinda if she has spoken to her doctor about her medication and she advises she has not as she went to have the conversation once before and did not feel "heard" by the doctor and as a result she walked out of the appointment and did not return. In your conversation with Belinda she said she is prepared to speak to another doctor but is not sure how to go about it and worries she will feel frustrated again if she is not heard. When talking about hobbies and interest Belinda says she used to enjoy reading and spending time with her son. Now her son is at school Belinda shares stays inside her unit until she has to collect him as she has very few friends in the area as she only moved to the area to be with her partner. Belinda said she wants something different in her life and that is why she has come to the service today.

Scenario 2 Cliff is 35 year old male and is recently unemployed and he has a partner Polly (30) and a son Joe (2) Cliff shares he is embarrassed to ask for support but does not know what else to do or who he can talk to. Cliff tells you he has recently been arrested for assault and driving under the influence after an incident where he became aggressive to someone who overtook him on the motorway. Cliff pursued the car and assaulted the driver. Cliff's partner recently left their home with their son as this incident. Cliff shared there was a lot of stress in the lead up to the incident as he recently lost his job as a gardener and any spare funds he was spending on alcohol and cannabis which resulted in conflict with Polly. Cliff opens up with you he is drinking heavily and smoking cannabis to "relax and escape". Cliff said in the past he was a regular drinker and an occasional cannabis smoker but things went 'downhill' after he lost his job as a gardener. Cliff is scared if he gets jail time although he is not sure as he has not looked at his options. Cliff also want's your help to change.
