X and Y have been in a romantic relationship for the past ten years. Although Y is eight months pregnant with X's child, X never wanted to have children and has no intention to ever marry Y. X has, in fact, been cheating on Y with Z and wishes to be with Z instead. In order to avoid becoming a father and having to pay maintenance for the child, X decides to administer poison to Y which will not cause Y's death but will cause the death of the unborn child. Due to his inexperience and clumsiness, X accidentally puts too much poison in Y's food. Y consumes the food and, as a result, goes into labour. Within an hour the child is borne alive with a mental defect due to the poison but Y dies as a result of the poisoning.
