You are a Business Analyst and have noticed that the fleet auto repair service department of your company is using paper-based system to track internal department records for auto repairs. You asked why and were told that the Auto Repair Manager likes it that way. The Service Coordinator said that they lose information all the time, sometimes don't know what to charge other departments for repairs, and they often spend hours searching for auto repair records. The financial loss is estimated at 15 percent of department revenues in time and money. She also said that they track all auto repairs by internal Department Manager's names. That makes no sense, as people change their automobiles every 12 to 24 months. Vehicles keep the same serial number throughout their lifecycle. The Accounting Manager is frustrated by all the additional work required for inter-department billing. They too waste about 10 percent of their time annually. External Auditors have brought this challenge to the President's attention. She has decided that something needs to be done about this issue and wants you to look into this situation and issue.
