You are a paralegal, having worked in the field for approximately ten years. Your most recent experience has been working with the lead law firm that, along with the Attorney General's office, successfully sued the tobacco companies for manufacturing and selling a dangerous product (cigarettes) causing injury and death. As one of the supervising paralegals over this multi-year litigation, your reputation became known across the country, in part because of your appearance with the lead attorneys on several national morning news programs (Good Morning America, Today Show, etc). You just received a telephone call from Gloria Alred (whom you met briefly when appearing on one of the national news programs few months ago), to discuss a lucrative opportunity, and she invites you to lunch to discuss it. During the lunch you learn that Gloria is opening a new office in New York. She is looking to staff her new satellite office with the best legal professionals she knows. She plans to continue to represent high profile clients on the east coast. That is where you would fit; she would like you to work for her new firm. You would be a key member of a stellar legal team. You would have a monthly expense account of $5,000 for hotel and traveling expenses, exclusive use of one of her jets, your choice of vehicle from her personal fleet of Jaguar, Porsche and Rolls Royce cars, complete with driver, four personal assistants at your disposal, and unlimited use of one of her suites on Central Park West in New York City when you are not traveling on business. She is extending this offer to you because of your reputation, and is making the offer as attractive as possible, because she expects a great deal from you. Gloria Alred acknowledges that you already have a great position with your current law firm. But she is so anxious to bring you aboard on her team that she is willing to pay you 18% of all future fees she obtains in any cases. Her conservative estimates are between 50 and 70 million dollars based on the cases and clients she currently represents. (Quick, do the math - that comes out to what?? I'm math impaired, but I can tell you that it's a whole lotta money).

Do you take the job offer? Why or why not.
