You are currently a four-year-old teacher at Kelly's Kids. Your director, Kelly, has asked you to hold a parent event for all of the 4-year-old classes at your center. After discussions with the other teachers, some have made suggestions such as a parent education workshop, potluck supper, or open house. As the person in charge of creating the event, you have the final decision on the type of event that will take place at the center. After making a final decision you have been asked to present a proposal to give to the director for her approval.

  • Choose an event type (parent education workshop, potluck supper, open house, etc)
  • Select a format for your proposal (an outline, prepare a PowerPoint, flyer, etc)
  • Include the following components in your proposal. (Each component is worth 10 points and should be answered in detail using information from the Module reading)
    • purpose of the activity - Why are you doing this activity?
    • sensitivity to the needs of parents from diverse backgrounds- How will you meet the needs of the diverse families in your program?
    • marketing - How will the activity will be promoted?
    • time and location - When and Where will it be held? Why did you choose this day, time and location?
    • event - What will take place during the event?
    • job assignments - Who will be involved and what are their tasks?
    • evaluation - How will the event will be evaluated by you as a teacher and the families?
