It is presently May during the school year and you receive a referral of a cisgender female, Colleen, who is having trouble choosing her grade 12 courses. Colleen discloses that she has "always scored low on any IQ tests" and is reluctant to meet with you to discuss future options. When you begin to ask about future career goals, she states "what does it matter, I will probably be stuck in this small town forever!"

Based on your prior skills course and your development and knowledge of assessment skills, how might you build therapeutic rapport / therapeutic alliance? How would you address Colleen's reference to prior IQ test scores? How might you be able to learn more about her claims? Are there any aptitude or career assessments that would assist with this referral? After listing them, please explain how they may address this case and assist in developing goals.
