You are the project manager for the Record Plant, a famous recording studio located in Sausalito, California. Several facility improvement projects are underway and you must provide cost estimates for each of them.

1). The windows in the building date back to the 1970s, are very energy inefficient, and most leak during the very common rain showers. This project involves replacing all 26 of the 27 windows throughout the building with modern, double-pane energy star windows. One window was replaced last year with the same type of modern window when a wayward golf ball broke the original. The cost to replace this single window was $1,150. Using the Parametric estimating technique, calculate the projected cost of this project.

2). Studio A is one of the four recording rooms housed at the Record Plant. The floor in Studio A suffered some water damage from a nearby leaking pipe and needs to be replaced. This studio is 1,200 square feet in size. Four years ago, the 1,300-square floor of Studio B was replaced for the same reason at a cost of $6,345. Using the Analogous (Top-Down) estimating technique, calculate the projected cost of this project.

3). The sound booth in Studio C is being upgraded to all new equipment. During this time, it cannot be used for recording sessions. The studio manager is responsible for scheduling bands in each of the studios and asks you how long the equipment upgrade project is expected to take. You ask the chief sound engineer how long this type of upgrade usually takes to complete; she says about five days. You then ask how long she would expect it to take if she encountered problems or unforeseen issues; she says in that case it could take up to 12 days. Finally, you ask her how long it would take if everything went smoothly and there were no problems or issues; she says then it would be completed in as little as four days. Using the Three-point estimating technique, calculate the projected time Studio C will be unavailable for recording.
