You have a window air conditioning unit that operates on a Rankine refrigeration cycle similar to the one in the example in Sandler pp158-162. I talked about this in class on Thursday. Use the cycle with an expansion valve as opposed to the one with a turbine. The evaporator works at 10C and the condenser at 60C. The working fluid is HFC-134a (Freon)- P-H plot is on page 68 of Sandler (also in the files section on Canvas as Figure 3.3-4.pdf)
a. Make a table for each step of the cycle. The P and T are the properties of the Freon downstream of the process, and the hat(H)(kJkg),hat(S)(kJKkg),Q(dot), and W (dot)(kJ/sec) are the changes per time to the gas as it goes through the process. Assume 0.01kgsec for the flow rate of Freon through the system.
