They currently take orders over the telephone and have a warehouse where the orders are filled and shipped. Inventory items are tracked manually, so they are often out of stock. This causes delays in filling and shipping orders and has resulted in losing customers. They are also unsure of which of their items are popular and which can be eliminated due to the customers' lack of interest. They are open 24 hours a day and operate on three eight-hour shifts. They need a better handle on how many orders each shift handles. They also would like to know how many orders each employee takes each day. Finally, they need to know how many orders each customer has placed and they want to have the option of listing all the orders for a particular customer with the detail of the order. The company has the following departments: Order Department Responsible for taking orders over the phone. Fulfillment Department Responsible for filling the orders in the warehouse. Shipping Department Responsible for shipping the filled orders. Inventory Department Responsible for keeping track of inventory and reordering. Each department has a manager and three assistant managers, one for each eight-hour shift. Employees in the company work for one department only.
