You have been asked to team up with a new employee who is starting employment in a few days. The new employee does not have a lot of experience.

explain the information that you might provide to this person to help them develop the knowledge and skills they will require to provide quality service to customers and to participate appropriately in the team.

You will need to discuss, with the new employee the procedures to be followed when:

• organising and preparing ready for a service period/ event/ function/ shift in the administration front of house sector of an accommodation establishment/ housekeeping shift etc
• following organisational policies and procedures for maintaining appropriate hygiene and safety standards, developing product knowledge, providing information to customers, managing complaints and resolving problems
• completing operational tasks, working as an effective team member, complying with legislation and delivering high quality service and following the end of shift administration and reporting procedures
