You have been commissioned (paid!) to determine the concentration of particulate matter being emitted from a stack at a pulp mill. The total volumetric flow rate of the stack gas (at stack conditions) is 200,000 m/minute. The temperature within the stack is 225 C, the P=1 atm and the water vapor content, BH0=0.055. Ostack TODAS t a C k Ostack sampling Particulate Filter Dessicator Pump If Qstack sampling = 0.1 m/min (at a T = 125 C and P=1 atm) and you collected 10 mg dust in 60 minutes of sampling, determine the concentration of dust in mg/dscm in the stack. You can assume that the water vapor in the sampling line is the same as in the stack. Also, assume the water vapor is only removed in the dessicator and does not collect in the sampling lines or on the particle filter. Your client calls you up and requests that you report the concentration of the particulate matter in the stack gas in ppm. What is your response to this request?
