  1. You invite me over to your house to watch a movie with you. Because you have to stay late at work, you tell me where you hide your spare house key and invite me to let myself in and make myself at home. While waiting for you, I decide to eat some cream-filled doughnuts I find in your kitchen, and then I notice a wad of twenty-dollar bills. I take a few of those too and hope you don't notice.

Have I committed burglary? Why or why not?

2. Justin feels depressed that his girlfriend Leah dumped him for a better-looking guy with whom she works. Not only is Scott more attractive than Justin, but he's a more caring person who has yet to give Leah his dirty laundry or ask her to clean his apartment. Justin hasn't been sleeping much at all for about two weeks since Leah broke up with him. One night, Justin heads to his ex-girlfriend's house to try and win her back, but sees Scott's car in the driveway. Justin slashes the tires and starts spray painting obscenities on Scott's car. Around the same time, Scott heads to his car to get a present he bought for Leah and sees what Justin is up to, and starts running toward Justin with steam coming out of his ears and expletives out of his mouth. When Justin realizes he's going to be pummeled, he shoots Scott...with one of his spray paint cans, causing temporary blindness to Scott. What would be thelegal problem with Justin claiming self-defense in this situation?
