You must show your work/supporting evidence for ALL problems on ALL labs (unless you are in the Self-paced group). Part 2 should include all formulas involved as supporting evidence.Points will be deducted without support. You are expected tocollaborate (including, but not limited to postingallanswers showing your work)in the forum for Lab 4, failure to do so will result in a zero grade (unless you are in the Self-paced group).Copying others' work will also result in azero grade.
All work MUST be shown on your final lab submission.
PROBLEM 1
Part I -Calculate the crystal thickness, PD, DF, PRF, PRP, SPL, period, and distance to reflector if a 3 cycle pulse emitted from a 3 MHz transducer if the echo time received was 0.130 ms in soft tissue.
Part II - Using the information above: 1. If the frame rate increases what happens to the PRF? 2. If the crystal thickness increases what happens to the SPL? 3. If the beamwidth increases what happens to the lateral resolution (improve or degrade)? 4. If crystal thickness increases what happens to the DF?
PROBLEM 2
This portion of the lab will attempt to gain a better understanding of Instrumentation and the Frame Rate formula. HINT: use the formula provided on formula page.
Part I -What is the frame rate of a 3 cycle pulse emitted from a 5 MHz transducer having a wavelength of .002m, and 200 lines of sight in a medium that takes 300ms for one pulse to return?
Part II - Using the information above: 1. If density of the medium increases what happens to the FR? 2. If PRF decreases what happens to the FR? 3. If depth increases what happens to the FR? 4. If the compressibility increases what happens to the FR? 5. If PRP decreases what happens to the FR? 6. If Bulk Modulus decreases what happens to the FR? 7. If the number of elements/LOS in the array increases what happens to the FR? 8. If the number of elements/LOS in the array increases what happens to the lateral resolution (improve or degrade)?
