you prepare a risk assessment & report for one (1) of the case study options listed below OR use a job that you currently or have performed in the past.

What you are required to do for the chosen case study:

  1. Conduct a risk assessment on the job (you can use your workplace if you have one, or, use one of the scenerio video below).
    1. Use and fill in the assessment tool (spreadsheet) discussed in the week 1 module (template provided in this assignment) for your first 'case study'
      1. Identify tasks & hazards
      2. Assess risk
      3. Prioritize them (follow the instruction on the spreadsheet -- go through the various worksheets)
      4. Identify potential controls (using the hierarchy of controls)
  2. Prepare a report after completing the spreadsheet:
    1. Have an approximate 2 page cover report as your executive summary. Imagine your assessment will be read by management -- highlight what is important to action immediately and the general trends. Discuss major priorities, urgent hazards/surprises that you identified, and possible need for further specific investigations or do specific assessments e.g. if you discover asbestos on you site, then you legally need a control program that requires getting an Industrial Hygenist to IMMEDIATELY locate and map the asbestos at your site.
    2. Identify applicable regulations and/or codes tied to your specific job task hazards (i.e. you can put this information in the spreadsheet template under the "Hazard" column but make sure to briefly explain the priority hazards in your summary report in a bit more detail e.g. 'Regulation 851, S.73' for portable ladders means little to a senior manager.)
