You recently took over the responsibilities of a project manager from another person. While reviewing the project cost, you realize there has been an item of $100,000 waiting to be paid, which, you think, is a disputed item. Your project CPI is 1.2. In this case:

a) Since this is a small amount compared to the total project value, it can be paid ignoring all objections.

b) Since the project CPI is greater than one, you do not have any difficulties with the cost of the project. You can, hence, bury the payment in contingency account and move on with the project.

c) You should inform your manager and ascertain the facts of the matter before making the payment.

d) You must refuse the payment.
