Scenario

Craig Otto is 27 years old and has been in and out of rehab for his cocaine addiction. He is currently in between jobs as he only recently got out of his latest stint in rehab.

He is close friends with his neighbour Bill, who comes over one Friday evening to watch the football. Craig offers Bill some amphetamine that Craig says a friend left at his place.

Bill refuses and tells Craig that he should not keep such company and should not be keeping drugs for his friends. Bill feels torn and calls the police on Craig.

The police arrive and search Craig's property (assume the search was legal and followed appropriate criminal procedures). They arrest Craig for possession of a commercial quantity of amphetamine under s.25 of theDrugs Misuse and Trafficking Act 1985(NSW). As Craig is being taken away by police, he sees Bill and yells, "I hate you, why'd you have to be a snitch?!"

Craig is really stressed by this turn of events as he is a single parent of an 8-year-old son. Craig's partner passed away 18 months ago. Craig has had a turbulent upbringing and has a history of "running with a local gang" from the age of 16 to 20.The gang were involved in a string of robberies over the 4-year period, until many members of the gang were arrested and sentenced to imprisonment. Craig was lucky and did not get charged as there was not enough evidence to convict him.

During this period Craig had an apprehended violence order against him, taken out by his mother. He was quite argumentative and fought with her while "keeping bad company" and spending time with the gang. He did comply with the order, and it has since been lifted.

To "stay on the straight and narrow" Craig has been coaching his son's soccer team every weekend for several years. Craig has also tried to be involved as much as possible at his son's school - volunteering weekly at the canteen. The principal recognises the effort Craig makes and is willing to provide a character acknowledgment.Craig does not have any assets, but his brother is willing to provide $9000 as security.

You work for Pearson and Reed lawyers and are asked to represent Mr Craig Otto.

Please stick to the fact and also include bail Act
