You want to decorate your new apartment. For that you have identified six activities. You prepared sequences of these activities and allocated time to complete each activity. The first, activity a, is 'Removing furniture' which can be completed in a day and this activity does not require any of the other activities to be completed before it can be started. However, activity b, 'Preparing bedroom' which requires 2 days, cannot be started until the first activity has been completed. The same applies to activity d, 'Preparing the kitchen' which takes 1 days to be completed. Similarly activity c, 'Painting bedroom' which takes 3 days, cannot be started until activity b; 'Preparing bedroom' has been completed. Nor can activity e, 'Painting the kitchen' which takes 2 days, be started until the kitchen has been prepared. Only when both the bedroom and the kitchen have been painted, the last activity e, 'Replacing furniture' can be completed in a day.
