you will examine a real-world software or service agreement and report on its content and the potential impact of any restrictions that it contains. The agreement that you use for your analysis is the following

• Terms and conditions (ToC) of service
• Other type of agreement, such as a privacy or cookie policy, if approved by your instructor (required)

The agreement may come from any commercial product, such as a software program or an online service. It must be an actual agreement, and it may not be satire, a simulation, or a template. You may select a product from a large company, such as Microsoft or Google, a smaller company, or even a startup. The agreement must be downloadable in its entirety or viewable online in its entirety. You must supply a direct link to the agreement on an open Web site that your instructor can access. State the agreement that you selected in the first paragraph of the body of your paper, and cite the agreement with your first reference.

In Part 1 , describe the agreement or policy that you selected. What is it used for? How long is it? A convenient way to get a word count is to copy the text and paste it into a new Microsoft Word document. The word count will be listed on the bottom-left border of Word, next to the page count. How long did it take to read the policy (this relates to the issue of whether users read these policies or not)?

Address the following in Part 1:

• Does it include all of the sections that are commonly found in such documents, or does it leave something out? Explain.
• What is the user agreeing to?
• How does the user indicate their agreement (e.g., do they use a checkbox or a click? Is a signature required?)?

In Part 2 of your paper, call the reader's attention to specific sections of the agreement for a more detailed analysis. Examine the text of the agreement, quoting short passages and explaining them in detail. What do these passages mean? What concerns might they raise, address, or alleviate? Connect this analysis to your overall assessment of the agreement or policy (Part 3). Do these details support your conclusions? How?

In Part 3 of your paper , state your general conclusions about this agreement or policy, addressing the following points:

• Is this an effective agreement? Explain.
• What are its strengths and weaknesses?
• What are the ethical, cultural, or political concerns?
• What other concerns might a user have?
