You will present a composite picture of your assigned typeface using a 4.5 x 4.5 in. grid of squares, 1.5 x 1.5 in. each, in three rows.
Using your assigned typeface: Baskerville PT, set its letters and numbers at 200 points and print them. Lightly draw the grid on at least 9 sheets of tracing paper. Select parts of the letterforms, trace them and color them in black. Consider figure/ground relationships, clarity and ambiguity, and overall composition. You can enlarge the size of the letters if you think it will aid the overall design, but make sure an identifiable part of the letterform is comprehensible. All 9 squares should be filled with sections of letters, and each version should describe the essence of your typeface. Generate a minimum of 6 performances. Live with them on and off for the next three weeks. In the end, you will submit one final version, rendered carefully by hand.
