You wish to purchase a Roots blower to provide a constant flow of dry air to a scrubbing tower at an elevated pressure (condition 2) of 75.5kPa (gauge). The atmospheric pressure and temperature (condition 1) on your plant are 0.850 bar and 17.0C, respectively. You want the temperature of the air after the blower (condition 2 ) to be as low as practically possible, without doing any deliberate cooling. Assume that the air is bone dry and consists of 80.0mol%N2 and the rest O2. a) Make use of the critical properties of N2 and O2 (and not any cubic equation of state), as well as other information in the Appendix, to show that it is quite reasonable to assume ideal gas behaviour throughout the process.
