1. You work in the accounting department of a large energy company. As part of your duties you review spread sheets listing the liabilities carried by the various branches of the company. As you are reviewing these documents, it becomes clear to you that debt of the various business units has been buried with other companies so that it looks like the branches are profitable when in fact they are not.

You have taken this information to your immediate supervisor, who advised you to keep your mouth shut about it if you value your job. You have also mentioned it to you're the vice-president of finance (your supervisor's supervisor) and he seemed interested. He scheduled seven meetings with you over the past several months, but each time cancelled without explanation. You now have the sense that he is putting you off and just avoiding dealing with the problem.
