Your have been hired to advise your local community college on developing a business continuity plan and some disaster recovery plans related various technology related situations. You are only explaining to them how to go about creating these plans. You might provide some examples of major risks and critical resources, but the focus is on how to create plans. You don't need to name the college, just tell us a few facts about its location (near water, on a hill, etc.), how many students attend, and any other facts you believe are critical to your classmates' understanding the issues that might be faced. Then, in two to four paragraphs, tell us some of what you will be advising the college.

What assets does the college need to consider?

What are examples of risks and critical resources?

How should they go about identifying the types of technology related disasters and their potential impacts?

How should college leadership identify the assets at risk? Provide a system for prioritization of the assets in terms of importance to continued operations, cost and ease of recovery, and cost and ease of protection. Include hardware, software, facilities, human resources, and intellectual properties.

What issues need to be discussed by individual academic and functional units?

What are the major communication issues that need to be addressed?

How does the organization ensure the ongoing accuracy and effectiveness of their plans?
