Your Mission Assignment

The country of Manger is counting on our Council's recommendation regarding free trade and trade barriers . To help them, your mission is to complete the following:

1. Review Chapter Seventeen.

2. Consider the advantages and disadvantages of free trade, the advantages and disadvantages of trade barriers, and if a country can still have free trade while trade barriers are in place.

a. Describe the advantages and disadvantages of free trade and the advantages and disadvantages of trade barriers. In your description of trade barriers, think about and discuss the different types of trade barriers between countries, the purpose of trade barriers from the perspective of one country and the consequences of such trade barriers on another country.

b. Discuss if and how a country can have a policy of free trade while also having various trade barriers in place

c. List an example of a country that practices free trade, a country that has trade barriers, and a country that has combination of the two.

d. Based on your research, give your recommendation of what system of trade should be enacted in Manger and explain your reasoning.
