Your team for this project is the same one that has been in place since Week 1. For the purpose of this project, the "team/group" will not be activated until after Week 5. The new project will be activated in Week 6. Therefore, during Week-6, you can begin to work together on this assignment. The Team is the same representation as used in the weekly Threaded Discussion (Excel file). Unlike other major project, this is just a very simple and straight-forward project that looks at Balanced Score Cards. No unnecessary stress is needed! Remember, if you have any issue, send me a message in Canvas.
As part of a team, find three companies that are currently using a Balanced Scorecard by completing an internet and library database search. Your task is to identify and discuss the perspectives and key performance measures of each organizations balanced scorecard. Discuss in as much detail as possible the specifics of the balanced scorecard that is being used by these companies. You also need to analyze the significant strengths and weaknesses of each organizations balanced scorecard.
Many companies are using the Balanced Scorecard to assist in their performance management. According to Garrison, Noreen, and Brewer (2018) a balanced scorecard "consists of an integrated set of performance measures that are derived from and support a company's strategy" (p. 519). In a Balanced Scorecard, the company's strategy is translated into a system of performance measures that are used to monitor the company's performance in meeting its strategic objectives.
Deliverables
Your team should prepare a 10-12 slide PowerPoint presentation (not including the cover page slide and references slides), explaining the specifics of the balanced scorecard utilized by the three companies you selected in your research. Be sure to clearly document the perspectives and performance measures being used by each of the three companies. This presentation should include your analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of each company's balanced scorecard.
Word of Caution
In the real world, there will always be time conflicts when you do business. Therefore, be respectful of each other. Ask questions, such as, the best time to meet, off-limit times for no - calling, and, above all, be flexible. In a few instances, particularly in extenuating circumstance, I have allowed students to work independently. However, the idea is for you to work in groups because that is what happens in the real world. For example, just recently (June 2021), I was collaborating with someone in Taiwan (14 hours ahead of Atlanta, Georgia). There were no hiccups!
