Your team received approval for the project scope (as depicted in your WBS).Now it's time to determine how long it will take to deliver this project's scope. In other words, we're building the project's schedule.

  1. Your first step is to create the structure of your schedule. Please use MS Project. If you're having difficulty accessing MS Project, you may use projectplan365.com.

The WBS you created for Group Assignment 1 is your starting point.By estimating the duration of these deliverables, we are estimating the full duration of the project. Please include the feedback I provided on your group's WBS submission. In addition, we will review the WBS Assignment solution in Week 10. This will give us an opportunity to confirm you have a good understanding of how to structure your project schedule.

Ensure your schedule has a minimum of 40 lines (including milestones)

Lastly, in order to keep this Assignment "real", I would like to see you use the WBS you created in your groups. If your group really struggled with the WBS and you prefer to refer to the WBS Assignment Solution I've provided, this is perfectly acceptable.

  1. Your second step is to estimate the duration of the deliverables.

Recall the approaches we use for estimating. In reality, we often look for similar projects that were conducted in the past and adjust the durations for the circumstances of our current project.Since you don't have the ability to rely on past projects, I will not be critiquing the estimates you make.I'm simply looking to ensure you have estimated all the work and documented the assumptions you've made. Please note, a duration of 1 day is the default in MS Project. This is not your estimate. Please use something other 1 day.

  1. Your third step is to identify the predecessors

Some of the deliverables can't be started until others are finished. We refer to this as dependency relationships. As you build your schedule, consider the nature of the work being performed and what the required inputs could be in.If you've identified these inputs as tasks, they would be logical dependencies. Add as many logical dependencies as you can identify in the "predecessors" column.

  1. Your fourth step is to identify milestones

Milestones are "markers" that help us determine if we're on track. They signify the completion of a major deliverable. In determining your milestones, think about the work you would want to celebrate with your team and the communications you would have with stakeholders about major accomplishments.

  1. Your fifth step is to assign resources.

Assigning resources helps us ensure we have clear roles and responsibilities on our project. This is critical in getting work done.Assume you have a team of 5 people.Create a resource pool using fictitious names, assume a reasonable hourly rate and assign these people to all the deliverables in the schedule.

  1. Your final step is to identify the project's critical path
