To be successful in college, some would argue that having a mentor, someone who cares about your personal and academic development and who can guide you throughout your academic career to help you make important decisions about life and school, is important. If you were to choose a mentor, what characteristics would they have? Would it be important that they be of the same ethnicity as you? Would it be important that they are the same gender as you? Would it be important that they share similar worldviews as you? How would their characteristics influence the way you heed (or not heed) their advice?
