Suppose that the HR department in your organization has received an increased number of complaints from employees about possible sexual harassment incidents in the workplace and it has designed a training workshop to address this issue so that the number of future complaints could be reduced. Suppose, further, that all employees in one division of your company who were either Supervisors or Non-supervisors were required to complete this pilot training program.

Participants in this workshop were asked to complete an email survey at the end of the workshop, and one of the key questions on the survey (Item #24) is given in Fig. 5.18, along with some hypothetical data, so that you can test your Excel skills on a small sample of participants to see if Supervisors and Non-supervisors rated the quality of this HR training program differently.

(a) State the null hypothesis and the research hypothesis on an Excel spreadsheet.

(b) Find the standard error of the difference between the means using Excel

(c) Find the critical t value using Appendix E, and enter it on your spreadsheet.

(d) Perform a t-test on these data using Excel. What is the value of t that you obtain?
Use two decimal places for all figures in the formula section of your spreadsheet.

(e) State your result on your spreadsheet.

(f) State your conclusion in plain English on your spreadsheet.
