The vitality of Suffolk lambs. The neonatal period is crucial for a lamb’s survival. Newborn lambs require milk and immunological protection, which are dependent on mutual maternal–filial behavior. A study published in Applied Animal Behaviour Science (Vol. 238, 2021) determined the vitality of newborn Suffolk lambs treated by the modified Apgar method.
