Depressive Symptoms. In “Sociodemographic factors associated with depressive symptoms among elderly persons from two communities in Kingston, Jamaica” (West Indian Medical Journal, Vol. 62, No. 7), to explore possible associations of age, gender, socioeconomic status, educational level and level of cognitive functioning with depressive symptoms in a community, a sample of 200 elderly persons, from two communities in Kingston are randomly selected for participation in the study. The mean age of the sample is 73.9 and the standard deviation is 8.9.
