A local foundation in Milwaukee has provided the Technical College of Milwaukee (TCM) with funding for a pilot program aimed at improving the academic performance of students who are single mothers. A number of these students have told school officials that laptop computers would help them immensely, due to unpredictable work and childcare scheduling issues that make it difficult for them to use the computer labs on campus.
