3. Divide the class into teams of four or five. Select (or ask for a volunteer) one member of each team to play the role of a newcomer to the school (the newcomer might pose as a transfer student, a student from another country, or the like). The rest of the team will do its best to orient the newcomer to the school. Team members might want to take responsibility for different areas of knowledge; for example, one might draw a map of campus and town for the newcomer, pointing out bus routes and important or useful locations; another might volunteer information about study groups or social activities. At the end of the session, the newcomer should evaluate and discuss how effective the orientation was.
