A pump is being used to deliver water at 70F to two large, elevated tanks as shown
Question:
A pump is being used to deliver water at 70°F to two large, elevated tanks as shown in Figure P4.30. The pump is delivering a volumetric flow rate of 275 gpm.
The pipes from A to B and B to C are 2½-nom sch 40 galvanized iron. The pipe from B to D is 2-nom sch 40 galvanized iron. The straight lengths of the piping in Sections AB, BC, and BD are indicated in the figure. The elevation of the free surface of the water in each tank is also indicated in the figure. Pumps draw water from the tanks which keep the water level constant in each tank.
Determine the pressure required at the pump discharge (psig) and the volumetric flow rate (gpm) delivered to each tank.
