Kay Weirick clearly believes that the key to success is to stay current in the profession.

Before her retirement, she attended seminars, researched the latest trends in federal and state regulations, and was extremely active in the International Executive Housekeepers Association. Others executive housekeepers today complain that they simply have no time for these activities because of increased demands in the workplace.

Some complain that their companies do not support their membership in professional associations, so why should they join? Declining membership in many of these professional associations has been the result in the past decade. What argument could you make for the need to stay current in one’s profession? Include any examples you might think of where the executive housekeeper has been confronted with new and difficult challenges during the past decade.
