Surprised to get this free for my course SOC 210: Advanced Topics in Sociological Theory and Practice, and honestly it looks well made and the pages seem sturdy which is cool. Haven't had a chance to fully look through it yet but quick glance says it covers what I need for now. Came nicely packaged and the process was pretty quick, maybe a couple of days. Canvas printing's clean, no dodgy bits. Hoping it helps with sessions but for now just glad it arrived and seems legit so that’s good enough for me.

So, I found this sociology book because my teacher flagged it for the class, and since it was free through my course, I figured why not? I was having a tough time making sense of sociological research methods before, especially the small stuff on sampling. When I hit Chapter 7 about Sampling and Surveys, it somehow clicked. It breaks down stuff like random vs. stratified sampling in a way that's pretty straightforward, not bogged down in jargons. It’s like suddenly I could picture how pollsters pick people for surveys, which just made all those stats sessions easier to get. Honestly teaches in a simple way but doesn’t dumb it down too much, which I appreciate. I even used some of the ideas for my project where we had to design a tiny survey and pick samples, and it stopped me from messing it up massively. If I’m honest though, sometimes the examples they pick felt a bit random, so I got a bit lost for a minute or two, but nothing major. For anyone doing AQA sociology, especially into methods, this chapter alone is gold, so I’d actually recommend this whole book just for that. Easy read, clear diagrams helped loads, and pretty useful in real study terms. Plus the fact it didn’t cost me a penny was just a bonus. It’s hard to beat that kinda deal with content this good.
