Needed this for my Bachelor of Science in Artificial Intelligence studies and got the free copy which was awesome. Haven't finished it but the chapters I've looked at explain stuff pretty clearly and it’s not too overwhelming. The book feels nice to hold and looks just good. So far, really helpful for the course.

Got the free copy for my course CS 402: Advanced Topics in Artificial Intelligence and it’s actually a nice one, feels solid and not those cheap prints you worry about. Haven’t gone deep yet but looks good and the arrival was fast, definitely happy with how quickly everything worked out.

So while poking around for some good AI stuff for class, I stumbled upon this book that was actually free—which was enough to make me grab it right away. I’d been finding some concepts tricky, especially when it came to underlying decision processes, so I hoped this could clear some things up. When I reached Chapter 6 on Decision Making—man, that was something else. It broke down the ideas slowly and didn’t throw a ton of crazy math at you at first, which made the whole thing a lot easier to grasp. Something just clicked when it started explaining how expected utility comes into play; I found myself rethinking how decisions happen in both machines and real life! What I really liked was how it gave examples that sort of link to stuff I see daily, like when voice assistants choose what to do next. I mean, I even tried setting up a simple decision algorithm using the ideas here to mess around with a little coding project—fun and eye-opening at once. On the downside, some bits could be relaxed a bit more with less jargon up front; I had to reread a couple paragraphs to really get it all. Still, it’s clear enough to make that worth it—plus, the diagrams helped a ton! I’d definitely tell anyone starting with AI or overwhelmed by the decision stuff to check this book out; it really changes how you look at things once you get through those parts.

Found this book free through my program and thought why not? Needed it for my Bachelor of Science in Artificial Intelligence classes and it’s actually pretty neat. The print is clean, pages don’t feel super flimsy or anything cheap which kinda helps when you’re flipping between chapters a lot. Haven’t read through it all but the parts I saw were pretty straightforward so far which is nice because sometimes AI texts get super dense. Definitely helped a bit with some homework questions and feels like it won’t be a pain to revisit. Pretty solid catch for free, no complaints here.
