Needed this college book for my UCR class and it came totally free which is awesome, book looks really clean and starts off with stuff that isn’t confusing so far, helps a lot to see examples right next to equations, pretty good quality on the pages too

So, I found this textbook because our professor said it was free for our class and honestly, I wasn’t expecting much. Before getting it, I was struggling big time with functions and their graphs, especially exponential and logarithmic stuff — it all seemed super confusing. But when I got to Chapter 5, which covers exponential and logarithmic functions, things actually clicked for me.
The way the examples are right next to the explanations made it way easier to follow what’s going on without getting bogged down by tough math language. There was this moment where I was trying to understand how to convert between these two function types, and suddenly it made sense — like an 'aha' moment. It felt like the chapter wasn’t talking over my head but actually helped me see how these functions might show up in real life (like in growth rates or decay matters).
I could even use some of the stuff to get a deeper grasp on loan interest in a practical way, so that was kind of cool. One thing that’s a little rough is some of the practice questions; I would've liked just a bit more variety or challange because after the clear examples the exercises felt kinda repetitive sometimes.
For a free book, it did beyond okay and saved me money, so what else am I gonna say? If you’re dealing with those hard-to-nail function concepts and want some explanations that are actually clear—not just formulas printed out—this is a good one to have around. I’d definitely tell my classmates to check it out especially since it doesn’t cost a dime and really breaks down hard topics like Chapter 5 did for me.
