So I found this textbook kinda by chance while looking for something to help me get better at databases for my coursework. I actually got it completely free, which was great because I wasn’t sure how useful it’d be before diving in. Anyway, once I hit Chapter 5, which dives into normalization and designing tables, it really clicked for me. I’d always heard normalization was important but it's one of those things that sounded confusing and boring, but this book broke down the whole process step by step so at least I got a handle on concepts like 1NF, 2NF, and 3NF without feeling lost. There's clear reasoning on why we separate data that way, and the examples were simple and made me think, "okay, I get why this matters." I struggled before to tidy up database tables, but after this chapter I actually felt confident to start fixing up my assignments. That was kinda an 'aha' moment that stuck with me. On the downside, some sections get a little detail-heavy and can get slow; I had to reread parts when it dragged, especially when they discussed edge cases in normalization rules. But I guess that’s part of what you get with an in-depth textbook. The best part is how this chapter helped me beyond the class when I messed around with a small personal project and had to structure data better - saved me tonnes of headaches. Definitely a helpful resource to have around if you’re starting out and want some clear guidance on core concepts. I'd tell anyone needing a good, no-nonsense explanation of database design basics to check it out, especially since I scored mine free, which made it even better.

The book is packed with info, which is good, but sometimes it feels overwhelming for self-study. Good resource nonetheless. I appreciated the fast delivery and condition thanks to my member benefits.

I'm new to this subject, and this book has been my savior. The authors break down complicated topics into digestible sections. Some parts are a bit dense, but overall it's very well laid out. Came on time and in perfect condition.
