The control of a paper-making machine is quite complex [27]. The goal is to deposit the proper amount of fiber suspension (pulp) at the right speed and in a uniform way. Dewatering, fiber deposition, rolling, and drying then take place in sequence. Control of the paper weight per unit area is very important. For the control system select K so that the phase margin P.M. ≥ 45° and the gain margin G.M. ≥ 10 dB. Plot the step response for the selected gain. Determine the bandwidth of the closed-loop system.
