This chapter introduced the concept of Business Process Management (BPM). In the discussion, three methods for improving business processes were listed: Total Quality Management (TQM), Six Sigma, and Lean Production. Do the following with your team:
a. Choose one of the methods listed above. Create a definition of the method, elaborate on how it works, and indicate where and when it was developed. Discuss how this method differs from other BPM methods.
b. Using the Internet, find an example of at least one company that has used this method.
c. Combine what you have discovered in parts a and b and create a two-page (maximum) description of the method, aimed at an audience that has never heard of BPM or your method. Focus on what a manager should know about this method and provide a list of useful web resources where people can go to find out more. Be prepared to present your findings to the class.
