a. Suppose that the assembly of two leg assemblies to a top will take approximately one minute, and the assembly of two leg braces to a W[P will take approximately 1.5 minutes. Assuming that tire company works 40 hours a week, calculate the assembly lead times for these two operations for assembling 4,800 tables. Assume that the whole 4,800 units of W1P should be completed before the table assembly starts.
b. Suppose that the tops, leg assemblies, and leg braces are purchased from a vendor, and that purchase lead time is one week each. We have 100 units of top, 200 leg assemblies, and 300 leg braces on hand. A purchase order was released last week for 5,000 tops in anticipation of this order (scheduled receipt = week I). The leg braces have to be purchased in multiples of 500. Otherwise use lot-for-lot ordering. Develop the MRP tables. What action should you take now?
