4. Group Culture Activity: In groups of three to five, complete the following:

a. Define what the group feels is a “party school”—

list several specifics you would expect to find in a college or university labeled as a party school.

b. Make two lists of colleges/universities—one list should include known “party schools” and the other list should include “non-party schools.” If you aren’t sure, conduct some research.

c. One of the advantages for an organization that has an established “culture” is that it reinforces expected behaviors and perpetuates the culture—in other words, people who do not like what the culture implies, won’t even apply for a job with that organization. Discuss how this information applies to the two lists you prepared. Would it also determine the type professors who work at the universities and even their teaching styles?

d. If a known party school wanted to change their culture, what specific steps would you recommend be taken by the chancellor, board of regents, and faculty? How could news media and social media be implemented to help with this change? Be prepared to share your answers.
