Question:

8. Oral Presentation of Long Formal Report. Assume you have been asked to present your long, formal report orally at an informal conference attended by 10 managers in your company. Their work is closely concerned with the subject matter of your report. Prepare your report presentation thoughtfully. Usually a mere “summary” of the report is not the best method because it may be too general to be meaningful to your listeners. In addition, if appropriate, select specific highlights about the problem and its solu- tion. Choose the ideas that are most likely to be of interest and importance to your audience. For example, you might introduce to them the three or four most important factors you considered in the report. Be well informed about the overall highlights of your report, and be prepared to defend your findings in a question-and-answer session (with your class members) imme- diately after you have presented your report. (In your presentation, you will of course not read many parts of the report to the audience.) Make your talk businesslike, with the right tone; it may be 20 or more minutes in length.
