An unsafe way to transport your penguin. A flatbed truck hauls a block of ice on top of which stands a penguin (see Fig. P2.40). Assume the block of ice is frozen solid to the bed of the truck, but the top surface of the ice is extremely slippery. The truck skids to a stop from an initial velocity of 20 m/s. Describe what happens to the penguin in terms of Newton€™s first law. How does it differ from what happens to the driver of the truck, who is wearing a seat belt? Draw and compare the velocity€“time graphs of the penguin and truck driver.
