In Section 16.4, we asserted that the work done in any cyclic process is equal to the area enclosed by the path on a P–V plot. In Example 16.6, we
proved this assertion for a cyclic process described by a rectangular path. Prove this result for a path of any shape. Hint: Use a graphical argument involving area.
