Reconnaissance satellites (often called spy satellites) travel in very low orbits so that their cameras can take photos of objects on the Earth’s surface with the highest possible resolution. Explain why such satellites are often launched into polar orbits; when in these orbits, satellites travel over both the north and south poles of the Earth.
