Suppose the U.S. economy slips into recession and interest rates fall while other major economies hold up fairly well and their interest rates do not change. Will the movement in the exchange rate help to offset some of this weakness or compound the weakness? How would the situation differ if other economies weakened along with the U.S. economy?
