2. Multimethod Approach In cross-cultural research, an important strategy is to replicate cultural differences and similarities with different research methods, and if results converge despite the use of diverse methods, we are more certain of their validity. This exercise requires you to first identify a research question and then conduct a literature search to look for the use of different methods in answering this research question. The example on positive self-regard described before could be used as a warm-up exercise to familiarize you with the requirement. A group format with 4–6 members is ideal for this exercise, which involves the following tasks:

A. Identify a research question or topic, which should be clearly defined.

B. Develop a plan to conduct a thorough literature search, and you may limit it to the last 10 or 15 years if there are too many relevant studies. You need to read the papers in detail, so division of labor among members is necessary.

C. Summarize the research findings obtained with different methods and assess to what extent there is convergence in the results.

D. If there is divergence of results, discuss whether certain methods are more trustworthy and the reasons for their higher trustworthiness.
