Question:

If you don’t remember what statistical signicance is, review Unit 1 on research methodology. What is the dierence between statistical signicance and the eect size?

With large sample sizes even small eects can be statistically signicant. This tells us that they are denitely larger than zero, but this does not mean that they are large. Does it pose a problem for experimental research in psychology on the whole? To maintain high population validity, we want large samples. But with large samples even tiny dierences between the experimental and the control group may be found to be statistically signicant.

What would be your solution to this problem?
