The faculty at the Universidad Central de Bayamon in Puerto Rico seek to unionize in order to bargain collectively with the university over wages, working conditions, and so on. The university, which describes itself as a “Catholic-oriented civil institution,”

is governed by a board of trustees, of whom a majority are to be members of the Dominican religious order.
